19th c. Chasuble vestment brocade, bullion, embr'd.

New to our auctions? Please read fine pritn below. Description antique vestment. Chasuble, fiddleback style. 19th century.

Very ornate and in beautiful antique condition. The lavish fabric is silk brocade large scale floral, possibly pomegranate and bittersweet. Cardinal red with cream and soft green.

It has a dimensional luminous quality to it. The front, ro fiddleback has a panel of magenta brocade with metallic embroidered wheat and roses. The back of hte chasuble has traditional ihs. The cross is created with cardinal rde brocade. It is embroidered with silver bullion thread.

The ihs is couched. The entire chasuble is trimmed around the edge in bullion trim. The entire piece is accented or trimmed in yards of buillon trim.

Lined in cotton. Double linen underlining to giev it is stiff shape. Condition slod as found.

Very good to excellent antique condition. tI presents beautifully, is sturdy and completely functional as found. Some wear to brocades.

A small amount of the couched threads are loose. Some light soiling. Mostly at shoulders. We have pictured defects worth noting. Please be sure ot enlarge the photos.
